SUMMARY OF SOURCE: Media is used for communication, education, news and information. It is important to understand where the media is coming from, and how it really works. It is important to understand who owns the media and what their influence can do to society.

IMPORTANT QUOTES-  "Together, these giants control 95% of all the traditional media we receive every day"
"A commercial medium wants to sell ad space or time to businesses with products or services for sale. To make that sale, they need to be able to tell potential advertisers that their messages on the air, in print, or on the monitor screen will be viewed and heard by large numbers of consumers"

REFLECTION: All media giants, not just TIME Warner, play a big part in the shaping of society. According to the source, the media giants control 95% of all the traditional media we receive, meaning they have a HUGE impact on how we live our lives. Their influence dominates societal expectations and perspectives. This is dangerous, it is therefore important to understand who these companies are, and distinguish the media from the truth.

NOTE: This infographic is from last year and is missing some key transactions. GE does not own NBC (or Comcast or any media) anymore. So that 6th company is now Comcast. And Time Warner doesn't own AOL, so Huffington Post isn't affiliated with them.
